When I joined company X in 2006, I was offered position AB. I worked in this position for 2 years. When I joined company X in 2009, I was offered position AB-1. When asked why, they gave me some dicey explanation about how they made a mistake and position AB is for PhDs only. When I asked them why they are demoting me they said they now are streamlining positions but its not a demotion.
Today my colleague joined company X in position AB and he is the equally qualified as me and w less experience than me. It seems HR told him they did not want to demote him.
