Daily dose of Adventures

After the wedding, it so happened that nearly every day had an "adventure". Some would be extremely funny whilst others were unpleasant, even scary sometimes. My husband kept encouraging me to blog about them but I think procrastination and shear laziness would take over me and I never got round to penning them down. But after my last 2 days I thought I should.

So my adventure for today started in this way...
My mom has come to Dubai for a project. I am really excited for her and of course, being a good daughter I thought if I cooked for her and helped her with her project she would be happy. So I quickly cooked, asked my husband to come home for lunch so I can feed him also before I leave. My husband told me I wouldnt need to go to Dubai, I can get off on the way and take a bus or cab which would be faster. So I was on my way to Dubai and I got off when I saw a bus stop thinking that I will find some bus here. There was no sign board indicating which buses come there. So I thought of asking someone, but lo! no one seemed to know either. Finally I gave up and decided to take a bus to the bus stand itself. If I had not gotten off my bus, I would have reached the bus stand. Instead I spent an extra 45 mins on a very slow moving bus. When I reached the bus interchange, I asked around and I was told to take a bus number 8 or X25. A bus 8A was leaving and someone said I could take that also. So I did. After about 45 mins, I was told 8A does not go to my destination and I should get off and change to yet another bus. By now I was already travelling for 4 hours and I was very tired. So I just decided to take a cab.

Finally I reached mom, spent time helping her and just chilling with her was fun. We bitched about the weather and discussed family while we did her work. Spent the night with at my mom's place.

The next day I decided to leave early to avoid repetition of the previous day's incident. So at 8.30am I was all set to leave. I enquired at the hotel about the nearest bus. They were a little surprised, even shocked that I was planning to take a bus to the Bur Dubai bus interchange (where I can get a bus to Abu Dhabi). I started walking, towards 'The Greens' busstop; all around me there was construction work going on. I walked for about 10 mins, asked someone about the bus, and I was told to simply wait near a signboard which had the symbol of a bus. 'Simple enough' I thought to myself. I hoped to be home by 12.30pm to have lunch with my husband. After about 30 more mins and no sign of a bus, I had a bad feeling that I was waiting at the wrong place. I asked around and found out the bus stop was further away. So I walked, I kept asking along the way to ensure I was going the right way. Finally I reached the bus stop, quite relieved. Got something to eat from the near by supermarket and waited for the bus.

Sitting on the bus, I was told to go till the AlSatwa interchange from where I will get my next bus. It took exactly one hour to reach Al Satwa and then I hunted down the next bus I needed to take. It was already 11am and hungry was beginning to set in. The next bus, I was told, would stop near the Bur Dubai bus station, not inside. After another 45 mins of riding the bus, I came to more familiar area, Bur Dubai. Very excitedly I got off much before the bus station, in hope of getting some walking as well as finding some food.

Luckily lunch was filling and rejuvenating. So now I just had to catch my last bus which would take me to Abu Dhabi which I managed to get quite effortlessly. I finally reached Abu Dhabi at 2.45pm, very tired and cranky I quickly got a cab went home n crashed.

My adventure for the day was over. I spent the rest of the day nursing my back pain and headache.
