New Job

I had a good one week of break mindelessly watching television. Most of the time I din even bother to get off the sofa.I slept for like 12-14 hours daily. It was so much fun!!

I started my new job on Monday and I have survived a whole week! Oh well who am I kidding? I love my new job!! I love it.I love it.I love it!

Its a cute little lab in a corner of NTU. Its so casual and informal working here.I had so much catching up to do with my project so I spent the whole week doing that. I was supposed to have a presentation today but I thought it was supposed to be yesterday and I was working extra hard to get in 6 months worth of work and therefore couldnt blog. The best part was that I had 'Friends' playing in the background while I was working. I havent done that since I left NTU. I dont really need to work at my desk, I can just take my laptop and go some where else in NTU.I get work done, plus I get to move around! Its fun :)

Then after staying up the whole of night on wednesday to prepare the presentation slides etc, and spending the whole of thursday morning to practice for it, I realised that it was supposed to be on friday. So I jus packed up early and went home. Then again this morning I sat through all the morning presentations, went for an early lunch and came, just to be told my presentation has been postponed.Anyways I am not complaining. I love my job!

Did I already mention that??

Anxiety Pangs

I duno why past few weeks of my life has been about only one thing,my old job and new job.I guess its been such a big step for me and the amount of uncertainty still involved, I cant seem to stop thinking about these things (hence I keep writing posts about the same)

It starteed off with something exciting and something very impulsive.I started thinking about it more only after I had submitted my resignation. Then I went thru the whole phase of wondering if my decision was right or not (not that I could have done anything by then).

Today is my last day at work.

Come monday I will be going to sign the contract for my new job.A week after that I will start working somewhere other than here.I will be doing something which is so totally different.Within a week my entire life is gonna change.

Now I am going thru a phase of anxiety.Past few days I have felt so unfocused and unable to concentrate on anything.I feel nervous and anxious (not sure about what) and I dont feel like doing anything.

Good Byes already?

Past few days everyone who meets me asks me the same question."So, when is your last day?" Its as if everyone is just waiting for me to leave.Nah I know thats not true.I know its something exciting for my colleagues as I am not leaving for a better job or a better prospect but because I am changing careers (I keep telling myself this over and over again to remind myself also.)

Anyways, we had all gone for lunch y'day, farewell lunch for me.So many people turned up, that I was taken by surprise. At the end of lunch, I was given a small book, scrap-book sorts. It had fotos (all in sepia colour) from all the office events of the past year and towards the last few pages, everyone had written a small note. I never owned an autograph book and when I read some of the things my colleagues wrote I was very touched.

Dearest Desk (soon to be ex-desk)

Thank you for the wonderful year and half.I know I will miss you, the jokes and laughter, the crazy things we used to do in the office.

I will always be proud of getting my first job but I will always cherish the people I met and the friends I made here.I will never forget you, desk, for you have been there during all my troubled times and my good times.I know sometimes I mistreated you, during the mad rush of project completion where I would just leave you cluttered.Sometimes I would make you overwork just cos I need to complete something. Everything I know about a working life I learnt here from all of you. From my first day till now I have always had someone to turn to.

I know I am moving on and someone else will come here in my place I just hope you will also never forget me.

Blues

I m not having Monday morning blues. But this is my last week at work.Next week this time I would be signing the contract to my new job.Yet the thought has really not sunk in fully.I was clearing the papers from my desk yet the feeling that next monday I wont be sitting on this desk anymore has not hit yet.Two weeks later I wont be working in the East side of town anymore, I will be in the West end instead. Although I am looking forward to the cut down in my travel time, I wont be able to catch the beautiful sunrise or the flights landing on the runway.I am definetely gonna miss the calm and relaxed pace.

Seems like in 5 days my life is gonna take a twist.

5 days and counting down....

Cold Feet

This was my state of mind over the last 4 days:

In the last 4 weeks I have had cold/flu 5 times.I am beginning to think that this is my normal physical state, except I find it very irritating.Whats worse than having a cold? Having flu which brings the addded 'benefit' of a fever along with it.Previously I would still go to office and class and just go about my work even with the cold and it would go away on its own with some extra sleep. However, I have been sleeping at home the last two days cos my fever was fluctuating between 39 deg C and 41 deg C (abt 101 F -103 F..I think). After running around all day these past few months, I felt so wierd sleeping 16 hours a day.The times I was awake, I was so bored. How do people manage to stay home and do nothing?I m jus waiting to spring back to action and I hope its soon.I will def die of boredom otherwise.

Back to the Future

My shortest trip to India, 4 days.I dont know what came over me when I went and got tix to India.Strangely I did not feel any excitement when I left and def none when I returned.Funnily also I did not feel as if I was in India at the same time it felt so familiar and comfortable as if I was always there and knew nothing of any place other than there.I dont think I am making much sense, but well what else is new. When I returned this morning, I felt as if I had never left Singapore. The only reminders of the trip being a severe case of stomach upset and a bad cold.
